Understanding claim ownership transfers

When a Meridian Enterprise user claims ownership of documents, the transfer is initiated from a vault that is enlisted but that is not the current owner.

The following steps are performed:

  1. Claim ownership: The user runs the Claim Ownership command on a locked document as shown in the following figure.
  2. Request ownership: A remote call is executed by Web Access in the vault that contains the requested documents.
  3. Schedule: When the transfer of ownership is permitted, a transfer is scheduled in the vault of the current owner.
  4. Export: The Meridian Enterprise export processor (running as a Windows scheduled task) reads the record in the table, creates a briefcase, and exports the document data into the briefcase. The documents are checked out to the briefcase.
  5. WAN transfer: The GCF transfer processor transfers the briefcase across the WAN using the configured protocol.
  6. Import: At the requesting site, the Meridian Enterprise import processor (also running as a Windows scheduled task) detects the received briefcase and checks in the briefcase contents to the requesting vault.
